Laura is a graduate of the music therapy program at Queens University of Charlotte and has been working in the Gastonia and Charlotte areas for over five years. She holds a BA in Speech Communications and a BM in Music/Music Therapy, as well as her Infant Todder Family Specialist certification.
Laura is originally from Ohio, and after obtaining her speech communication degree there, she moved to Nashville where she worked for several years as a vocalist and dancer for Opryland, USA and Gaylord Entertainment. After moving to Charlotte, she performed in local theaters including Matthews Playhouse, Theater Charlotte, and Spirit Square.
Though she loved performing, Laura began to feel the need to share her love of music in other ways. People with special needs were always dear to her heart, as her aunt had Down Syndrome, so Laura was motivated to pursue a career in music therapy. She now works with children and adults with intellectual and developmental diagnoses including autism, Down Syndrome, speech delay, and cerebral palsy.
